Potential Fonts for My Titles
I have found a number of potential fonts to use for my title cards.
The first possible font is called Codex and was used for the folk horror film 'The Wicker Man'. I like the serif font because it is instantly recognisable as indicating the folk horror genre, but my biggest concern is that it is completely associated with Robert Hardy's film.
The second possible font is Trajan Pro, a serif font that has featured frequently for films for the horror genre. I think it will instantly suggest genre to audiences, though it may have connotations of a medieval gothic horror because of its thin lines and sharp feet.
The third possible font is called Vinque Antique Light, which I prefer in the italic style. Again, however, it feels a little medieval and more appropriate for a film about knights or ancient battles.
A fourth possible font is Wintanceastre Regular, which has a folk horror feel, but I am unsure because of the severe curves which make some of the letters illegible.
A fifth possible font is Demos Pro Regular which has the serif style that I feel is typical of fonts used for title cards and marketing materials for films from the folk horror genre, though some elements of the font feel a little too rounded.
A sixth possible font is Clairvaux Std Regular, which is also a serif font and one which certainly suggests the right genre. Some of these fonts, however, feel more appropriate for a folk horror film set in the distant past, centuries ago, such as 'The Blood on Satan's Claw' or 'Witchfinder General', and not appropriate for a modern folk horror film such as 'Equinox'
The final possible font is ITC Cheltenham, and I think this is the one I am going to use as it is serif but a little more modern looking than some of the other fonts. In lower case it is too rounded but in capital letters it has a sharper, more menacing aesthetic.
