Analysing Opening Scenes - Introduction

I am going to look a number of opening sequences from a range of films from different genres to find out whether there are consistent conventions of opening sequences, regardless of genre. I already have a pretty good idea of what opening sequences contain such as titles and production company idents at the beginning, but I will analyse a few opening sequences in more detail to see what they include.

I would like to make certain of the conventions found in opening sequences so that I can include these in the opening for my film to ensure a more authentic look. 

I have chosen to look at the opening sequences from the following five films. 

'Interstellar' (sci-fi)

'Get Out' (horror)

'Easy-A' (teen film)

'Top Gun' (action)

'500 Days of Summer' (rom-com)
